| HELP NEEDED: "Write down for the coming generations what the LORD has done, so that people not yet born will praise Him. (Ps. 102:18) What have you been learning through these 40 days of purpose? Would you be willing to share His story in your life? PLEASE |
| POINT TO PONDER: It's never too late to start growing |
"Let God transform you inwardly by a complete change of your mind. Then you will be able to know the will of God-- what is good and pleasing to Him and is perfect." (Romans 12:2 - Today's English Version) "God wants us to grow up... like Christ in everything..." (Ephesians 4:15a - The Message) |

God wants you to grow up. Our Heavenly Father's goal is for you and I to mature and develop the characteristics of Jesus Christ,
living a life of love and humble service. BUT... spiritual growth is not automatic. It takes my choice, an intentional commitment.
I must want to grow, decide to grow, make an effort to grow, and keep persisting in growing. Discipleship -- the process of becoming
like Christ -- always begins with a decision. And remember this-- discipleship is a life-long process.
Nothing shapes your life more than the commitments you choose. Your commitments can develop you or they can destroy you, but either way, they will define you. Tell me what you are committed to, and I'll tell you what you will be in twenty years. We become whatever we are committed to. Using time as an indicator of commitment, what would your close friends and family say you are committed to? It is at this point that most people miss God's purpose for their lives.
Do any of these describe me? Every choice has eternal consequences, so I had better choose wisely. My first step in spiritual growth is to change the way I think. The way I think determines the way I feel, and the way I feel influences the way I act. To be like Christ, I need to "think the same way that Christ Jesus thought" (Phil 2:5). The Bible calls this mental shift repentance, which in Greek means "to change your mind." I repent whenever I change the way I think by instead adopting how God thinks -- about myself, my sin, my plans, my future, my free time, God, other people, life, and everything else. You and I take on Christ's perspective. |
| PRAYER: "Gracious Father, I choose today to grow up. Please change my mind from selfish, immature thinking, to think Your thoughts all day today. Please help me in this, as I don't want to drift to familiar thought patterns, but renew me. Amen |
| FOR MY CONSIDERATION: What is one area where I need to stop thinking my way and start thinking God's way? |
This week's Memory verse:
"... Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus..." Philippians 2:5 (NIV) |
