| POINT TO PONDER: There's more to life than just here and now. |
| REFLECT: How did today's reading impact you? |
"God has... planted eternity in the human heart." (Ecclesiastes 3:11 - New Living Translation) |
| "This life is not all there is. At most, I will live a hundred years on earth,
but I will spend forever in eternity. My time on earth is 'but a small parenthesis in eternity',
(Sir Thomas Browne). You and I were made to last forever. This life is just the dress rehearsal
before the real production.
When I fully comprehend that there is more to life than just the here and now, and that this life is just preparation for eternity, I will begin to live differently. I will start living in light of eternity, and that will color how I handle every relationship, task and circumstance. All of a sudden, many urgent activities, goals and even problems that seemed so important will appear trivial, petty, and unworthy of my attention. |
"I once thought all these things were so very important, but now I consider them worthless because of what Christ has done." (Philippians 3:7 - New Living Translation) |
| "How I relate to God here on earth will determine where I will spend eternity. God has a purpose for my life here on earth, but it doesn't end here. If I develop a relationship of love and trust in God through Jesus Christ now, the relationship will continue on through eternity. When I live in light of eternity, my values change." |
| PRAYER: "Gracious Father, Open my eyes to see Your eternal perspective today. Teach me to live today in light of eternity. Capture my heart to think through the consequences before I make choices today, and to recognize distractions from my agenda may be Your higher purposes for me today. Amen" |
| FOR MY CONSIDERATION: With the big picture of eternity in view... What is one thing I could start doing today? What is one good thing I could stop doing to make way for the better? What's holding me back? Why not do it today? |
This week's Memory verse:
"For everything, absolutely everything, above and below, visible and invisible... everything got started in Him and finds its purpose in Him" (Colossians 1:16 - The Message) |
